About My Studio

Providing students with the tools to make music and enjoy a lifelong skill is my passion. After receiving my BA degree in Music, I have been privileged to work with students of all ages in Wisconsin, California and Massachusetts. Whether you're an absolute beginner or you're returning to lessons after a break, I would love to help you achieve your personal goals!
My studio is relaxed and welcoming: a safe, nonjudgmental environment where students of all ages will enjoy learning. I sincerely care about my students, and will offer patience and enthusiastic support as I cheer you on every step of the way.

Private Lessons (Ages 6-Adult)
Weekly Private Lessons are offered for ages 6 through Adult, and are 40 minutes long. I take great care in designing lessons to fit the individual student's learning style, abilities, and personal interests.
When it comes to my teaching philosophy, fun is a central component. I believe in game-based learning whenever possible, and using multiple approaches to master a particular skill.
I incorporate technology into every lesson and supplement with off-bench games and activities to enhance the learning experience. Students also have access to my extensive Lending Library and will be introduced to all genres of music.
A typical lesson includes a combination of: sightreading, music theory, ensemble playing with backing tracks, student/teacher duets, technique, artistry, ear training, music history, improvisation, and composition. Once students have a grasp of chords, we move on to lead sheets & chord charts.

Performance Opportunities
Performing in public is an important skill for musicians to learn. I provide a minimum of two group performances per year. Participation is strongly encouraged, but never mandatory.
In October, I hold casual Costume Recitals where students may dress up and perform for a small group of their peers. Because this is a STUDENTS ONLY event, it allows students to play in front of a friendly, less intimidating audience. Afterwards, students socialize, enjoy refreshments, and play music-related games. All of this helps to build camaraderie and a sense of community within the studio.
